Before you study the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust’s conservation land management course online, review the FAQs.
From our e-learning course page, click on the course module you wish to study online and you will be directed to the Tocal College e-learning website where you can register and access each conservation management module and the overall course.
The course is delivered online. If you have access to a computer, a tablet or a mobile phone you can use any of these devices to study the online modules of the course.
No. This is an open access course for landholders managing a site to increase its conservation value, or with an interest in conservation land management.
The online study modules are free.
This e-learning course educates on conservation land management actions prescribed by the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust, and is offered through Tocal College for the benefit of private landholders who are managing their land for conservation, have an interest in private land conservation.
E-learning modules ready to study are:

- Monitoring
- Artificial management

- Hydrology
- Pest and weed management
It will take between 1 and 3 hours to complete each module of the course.
This is a self-paced course to be studied at your own convenience. There is no timeframe in which the course needs to be completed.
Yes. A certificate will be issued by the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust after you have completed the course. The following modules have been mapped by Tocal College to align with units of competency that can be used towards a Certificate III or IV in Conservation and Land Management.

The course aligns with units within the Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management. It is not a formal qualification on its own.
The learning has been structured to support landholders who new to managing their land for conservation, while offering a refresher and up-to-date practice for existing land managers. We do not apply prior learning or experience, and trust all students gain from the course modules.
The e-learning course is not compulsory. Rather, it’s an offering of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust to provide comprehensive conservation management knowledge through interactive and easy-to-understand online study.
This course is based on and complements the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust’s guidelines, prior webinars and existing resources for conservation management.
We want to ensure students have access to the latest information about conservation land management practices and, with Tocal College, will be updating the course material information or practices changes.
The content in this course has been written and designed by the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust’s Education team in partnership with the NSW Department of Primary Industries' Tocal College. Tocal College has a long history of providing specialised training to the agricultural sector. The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust works with more than 2,000 private landholders in managing their properties for conservation.
